“Could ‘Project Fear’ be used to stop bees swarming?”
It may be worth considering because when bees swarm around 70% of them leave the hive to form a new colony. It means a reduced honey crop so beekeepers use various techniques to control swarming – not always successfully.
‘Project Fear’ was the term used to describe the UK government’s threats to the Scots warning them of dire consequences should vote for independence in last year’s referendum. It worked – and Scotland decided to remain in the Union. Now, a similar strategy – also dubbed ‘Project Fear’ is being used UK’s ‘Brexit’ referendum.
Given the apparent success of ‘Project Fear’ I wonder if we could use a similar strategy to dissuade our bees from swarming?
